Kevin (12mths) has arrived at the service wearing four layers of clothing. Kevin’s parents are of Chinese background and are concerned that he will be cold during the day. The predicted temperature for the day is 37 degrees. The educators are concerned as Kevin is already quite sweaty and red and he may become dehydrated. Kim the educator is aware that his parents will become distressed if they arrive and he is not fully dressed. Kim calls Kevin’s mother to discuss his physical needs and to tell the mother that they have removed some of his clothing due to the weather referring to the centre health and safety policy. Kim also ensures that Kevin is given water regularly and monitors his level of comfort.
